It's fun being an ex-Shandon member now living in Bahrain because I get to see Mark Brown come through the 'Gulf Swing'(Abu Dhabi, Qatar, and Dubai) of the European Tour in late January and early February. The results this year: A missed cut in Abu Dhabi by just one shot and despite being one under the card! A 'two over'performance in Qatar from four rounds that helped cover some expenses. And a missed cut by two in Dubai, with a first round 78 in tough conditions where many of the players were in the mid-70s, and a second round 70 that included the missing of half a dozen frustratingly gettable puts. It could easily have been a round of 65 or 66 and healthy earnings at the end of the event. It's tough! A very fine line between nothing and a healthy pay week. So what happened after that? More frustration with a missed cut by three in New Delhi, in a country where (remember) Mark won two tournaments in a row just a while ago. Time to give up? Not this fellow! This guy is persistent! Mark's top ten finish in Malaysia was brilliant. His final round of 66 was a true indication of where his golf is at present. Go for it, Mark. Trust your judgement on the greens. We can all see a great year unfolding!
