After weather forced the abandonment of play on Saturday, Mark Brown has completed his first Dunhill LInks Championship with a grim 79 on the third day of play at Carnoustie. Brwn needed a miracle to have any chance of playing the fourth round at St Andrews but it wasn’t to be as he had an off day with he driver, hitting just five of fifteen fairways. Brown will now drive home ahead of the Madrid Masters this week, where he will fly out to on Tuesday. Click here for full scores.

Mark Brown has shot an even par 72 in the second round of the Dunhill Links Championship. Playing at Kingsbarns, Brown was again consistent from tee to green marking 15 of 18 greens in regulation. However he undid his three birdies on the front nine with three bogeys on the back nine and 33 putts again prevented him from scoring under par. Brown is being patient with his game though and knows he will need a very low score at Carnoustie to be able to play on Sunday. It wasn’t the greatest of beginnings for Mark Brown in the first round of the Dunhill Links Championship as he shot 4-over par 76 at St Andrews. Brown’s putter was again the club a fault with 35 putts despite hitting 13 of 16 fairways. Sean Fitzpatrick played well with a nett 67 so Mark will be hoping his form rubs off tomorrow when they play Kingsbarns at 10:06am (10:06pm). Click here for full scores.

Mark Brown has been paired with amateur golfer and rugby legend, Sean Fitzpatrick in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. The pair will tee off the tenth at the Old Course, St Andrews at 10:50am on Thursday (10:50pm NZT). The format is pro-am with a cut to the top 60 professionals after the first three rounds. They are joined by the top 20 teams regardless of whether or not the professional has made the cut individually. Fitzpatrick will be well known to New Zealanders as one of the key members of the 1987 Rugby World Cup winning All Blacks. Fitzpatrick is now resident in the UK and has a number of business interests including a motivational speaking business and appears regularly on UK rugby coverage. By all accounts he is a handy golfer and will be a formidable member of Team Brown.

Or maybe that word should be “in” not “on”. Mark Brown has shot a 3-over par 75 in the first round of the Mercedes Benz Championship in Cologne, Germany. After getting off to a poor start with three bogeys in the first six holes, Mark made birdie on the seventh and hung in with a string of pars until a bogey on seventeen on the demanding course. It will be a confidence boost to Brown in that in his poorest ball striking round of late his putting and short game kept him in the round which bodes well for the next three days. Mark Brown’s costly triple bogey on the par three thirteenth in the second round in Switzerland means he will have yet another weekend without competition golf. At 3-under for the round he looked well placed to play another two rounds but his horrid error and only one following birdie in a round of one under par 70 means he is likeley to miss the cut by one or two shots. It was a round of two halves for Mark Brown today as he shot a one over par 72 in the first round of the Omega European Masters in Switzerland. Brown started solidly and confidently on the back nine, getting to 2-under par with little trouble on the scenic course. However a bogey from the middle of the fairway and a missed green on two saw the first bogey of three on the front nine. The head stayed on until his drive went slightly left on the fourth and then Mark made hard work of the rest of the round, creating few chances and making bogey on six from a missed green with a wedge. Mark Brown has missed the cut in Scotland after shooting a 2-over par 74 in the second round of the Johnnie Walker Championship in Scotland. Brown should take heart from his improved display. In the blustery early morning conditions Brown got off to a poor start missing a short putt for par on the fourth and hitting his ball behind a tree on the fifth to make double bogey. Mark made a solid run of birdies in the middle of the round but really should have eagled the ninth to get himself on a roll. Needing to birdie two of the last four holes to have a chance of playing the weekend Brown missed makeable putts for birdie on 15 and 18 and showed his frustration by hurling his ball onto the practice range in a throw that would make him an adequate substitute fielder for the Black Caps. Mark would be better served spending less time throwing balls/clubs/other equipment and more time working on his putting stroke. Click here for full scores. Mark Brown described his 1-over par 73 in the first round of the Johnnie Walker Championship as doing “no damage”. After getting off to a fine start in the cloudy and calm conditions racing to 2-under par, Mark knew he had to make the most of the lack of rain. The birdie work wa undone with bogeys on 18 and one but another birdie on two put him back in the red. Sure enough late in the round the rain came, the temperature dropped and the nostril-invading midgies made their presence known. Mark made double bogey from the middle of the fairway when his ball found very thick rough and he took two shots to get out and then missed the putt. Mark’s ball striking was fair and putting reasonable and he will be looking to make the most of the early conditions tomorrow. Leader Paul Lawrie is at 5-under par. Click here for full scores.

Mark Brown has shot a one over par 71 in the final round of the KLM Open in Holland. On another day of ideal conditions, Brown birdied the second and just missed a chance for birdie on three. When the marshals indicated his tee shot on four was fine he strolled down the fairway to learn that his ball could not be found in the rough on the left. After a fruitless search Brown’s head came off as he made double bogey and lost his cool, never properly regaining it for the rest of the round. His ball striking was scratchier than on past days but still markedly improved on past tournaments, yet once again he had little luck on the greens. Birdies on 12 and 13 were followed by a double bogey after having an unplayable lie and incurring a penalty then missing the green and failing to up and down for bogey. Brown fought back strongly in the round with birdies on 16 and 17 and a long par saving putt on 18. Brown will finish in about 48th place but will take a lot out of this week.
